Apple #1 Smartphone Maker; Android #1 Smartphone Platform in U.S: comScore

comScore’s latest smartphone report for the U.S is out. The quarter of NDJ 2012 & 2013 saw Apple grab the no.1 slot amongst smartphone manufacturers, with a 37.8% share outpacing its nearest competitor Samsung by a significant margin (16.4%). Android was the top dog on the platforms front, with a 52.3% share and thus beating Apple.

Androids + iPhones Grab 90% of U.S Smartphone Market Share

NPD Group, announced that Android powered smartphones and iPhones account for over 90% of total U.S smartphone sales during Q4, 2011. Androids control 48% of the share, while iPhones contribute 43% to the total pie. First time smartphone buyers favored Android in the previous quarter with a healthy 57% purchasing Android based smartphones.

iOS Erodes Android’s Share Amongst New Smartphone Buyers: Nielsen

Nielsen, released its latest numbers from their Mobile Media Report for the Oct to Dec Quarter in 2011. Although Android leads iOS in the OS share by a large margin; amongst new smartphone buyers Android has slender lead over iOS share with 46.9% and 44.5% respectively. IPhone 4S has contributed significantly to eat into Android’s share.

More Than Half of New Smartphone Buyers Embrace Android: Nielsen

Nielsen, in its latest study finds the 56% of new smartphone buyers in the last month skewed Android. Android also leads the entire smartphone subscriber base with a 43% share. iOS comes in second with 28% share equally on both new smatphone acquires and total subscribers fronts.
