iOS Click Throughs Outperform Industry Average in the U.S by 1.5X: JumpTap
By: Prashanth Shantharam  |  6, August 2011

Mobile Ad-Network Jumptap, released its Mobile STAT (Simple Targeting & Audience Trend) report for July, 2011 and finds that iOS CTRs outperform industry average in the U.S for H1, 2011. While iOS clocked a .78% CTR, the industry average was at .52%. Android CTR was below industry average at .47%.

Jumptap reasons the higher CTR on iOS by stating

“The uniformity of the iPhone’s browsing and app experiences generates higher advertising interaction. Updates of the Android and Blackberry OS platforms should strive for the same seamless experience”

Other key findings include a rise in CTR by users under the age of 34, compared to its previous month’s data. The network also witnessed a ‘significant growth in click to Web campaigns from May to June, which we attribute to more advertisers building mobile sites.’ Targeting rose this month, and feature targeting was the most popular targeting method, states Jumptap

The report also included a unique color-coded map, highlighting the dominant O.S across the states of America. This is analogous to the red and blue states denoting Republican and Democratic party dominance in each state during election time.

The map does not represent market share or shipment stats; but its data culled out of Jumptap’s network that has a user base of 83M.

"Mobile is fundamentally reshaping how we as consumers spend from housing and healthcare to entertainment and travel, from food and drinks to communication and transportation. Mobile not only influences purchase behavior but also post purchase opinions. When the share button is literally a second away, consumers are willingly sharing more information than ever before. Mobile is thus helping close the nirvana gap for brands and advertisers who seek to connect advertising to actual transactions. The long-term battle is however for owning the context of the users. Having the best knowledge about the user to help drive the transaction is the simply the most valuable currency of commerce.” -- Chetan Sharma State of Global Mobile Industry Report1H, 2011
