Opera Mini 6 Returns on GetJar App Store
By: Prashanth Shantharam  |  1, April 2011

GetJar had offloaded Opera Mini 6 app from their store when Opera announced they would be launching a store of their own. GetJar had then cited agreement violation for the Opera app boot. But now, GetJar has allowed Opera to re-introduce their Mini 6 application on their app store.

On their Blog, GetJar announced the end of the ‘ Soap Opera’ and claimed that the world’s best browser is back on their app store.

Mahi de Silva, EVP of Consumer Mobile at Opera Software states

“ I’m glad that Opera Mini is back in the GetJar store. We believe Opera should be everywhere and we love the fact that our fans will now be able to download Opera Mini again from GetJar.”

Patrick Mork, CMO of GetJar responded by saying

“GetJar remains committed to offering consumers the best possible content regardless of category, phone or platform. Opera Mini has been a great partner and one of our top apps for many years and our users will be happy to have a bigger and better version of Opera Mini back in our store.”

Opera Mini is used on 3000 devices reaching a consumer base of 90 million users, according to GetJar.

"Mobile is fundamentally reshaping how we as consumers spend from housing and healthcare to entertainment and travel, from food and drinks to communication and transportation. Mobile not only influences purchase behavior but also post purchase opinions. When the share button is literally a second away, consumers are willingly sharing more information than ever before. Mobile is thus helping close the nirvana gap for brands and advertisers who seek to connect advertising to actual transactions. The long-term battle is however for owning the context of the users. Having the best knowledge about the user to help drive the transaction is the simply the most valuable currency of commerce.” -- Chetan Sharma State of Global Mobile Industry Report1H, 2011
