App intel provider, Mobilewalla, states that the one millionth app went to market sometime last week. The milestone is a cumulative of all apps available on major platforms including Apple, Android, Blackberry and Windows. The app count includes same apps available on these varied platforms.

Google Currents Takes On Flipboard!

Google Currents app was unleashed on iOS and Android recently. The app is similar to Flipboard in that the user can browse content in a magazine like format, is touch optimized and explored with just a swipe of a finger. Flipboard is iOS specific and was launched on iPhones too recently, but Currents is available on both iOS and Android platforms.

Android Growth [Infographic]

Android Market Clocks 10 Billion App Downloads

Android Market has hit a key milestone, its now clocking 10B app downloads in total, since its launch in 2009. Its now clipping at 1B downloads per month, while it took 20 months for Android to hit the first 1B milestone. 550K devices are activated everyday, contributing to the app consumption. Its rival Apple, stands at 18B downloads as on October ’11.

Android No.1 O.S; Samsung No.1 OEM in U.S this Quarter: comScore

comScore’s latest quarterly numbers for the U.S mobile market are out. Android gained 4.4 percentage point of market share from the previous quarter, and hence increased its total share to 46.3%. Samsung was the OEM leader with a 25.5% market share for this quarter.
